The World Young Economist Essay Prize invites students to write about urgent issues shaping our future, including AI, education inequality, housing affordability, inflation, financial risk and the value of work. There are no age or grade divisions. Essays are judged by reasoning, evidence, originality, clarity, and real-world insight.

A strong question can become more than one essay. WYE helps students develop their ideas into economic commentary, data-based articles, policy briefs, and independent research projects.
